Thanks to our color cartidges no manual pigment handling is necessary.
Insert your parts together with the cartidge inside the basket.
With pressing "Start" the dyeing cycle begins.
The process is fully automated and takes 2.5 hours per run.
After a dyeing cycle is finished, you just have to remove the colored parts out of the basket.
As plug & play system the DM60 coloring system is very user-friendly and provides reproducible coloring results. All color pigments and additives are inside our color cartrigdes. These cartidges are available in four different sizes (S, M, L, XL) and can be chosen according to the volume of your parts. The process cycle is very easy. First, the cartridge is scanned by an integrated RFID reader. After that, the cartridge is insert into the basket together with the parts.
Submerged in a water bath, our dyes penetrate the plastic through a chemical reaction under pressure and heat. The penetration depth is typically 0.2 mm and can even be increased using our intensive color solution. No material is added and every surface is
reached in the water bath.
Besides our 17 standard colors, it’s possible to achieve almost every RAL and Pantone color on powder-based AM parts with the DM60 coloring system. Custom or corporate colors based on color samples can also be developed individually.
With using our DM60 coloring machine you will have access to our extensive color database with over 400 different RAL and Pantone colors that we developed so far. Contact us directly if you’re interested in a custom color!
Parts that are colored with DyeMansion technology are skin-safe. Some of these products like 3D printed eyewear or ortheses are in daily use since more than two years now.
The DyeMansion coloring solution is compatible with parts of every geometry. Even very filigrane or complex parts geht through the coloring process without any problems. Submerged in a water bath, the dyestuff penetrates the plastic through a chemical reaction under pressure and heat. In this way the dye reaches spots that cannot be colored homogeneous with a painting.
Due to the chemical reaction that occurs between dye and material, the parts retain their geometric properties. Unlike if painting the parts, there is no added material.
The penetration depth of the dyestuff in our optimized dipping method is typically 0.2 mm and can even be enhanced using our intensive coloring solution.
The whole process and our special dyes and additives are developed for powder-based materials. Thus, the dye stuff and the additives allow us to achieve a high UV-resistance. Our colors not only stay fresh for a long time, but an unwanted “yellowing” on SLS parts is substantially reduced.
This way, porous and vulnerable parts turn into high quality finished products that set a totally new qualitystandard with their longevity. Some of our colored products are in daily use since more than two years and their colors are still UV-stable and brilliant.
Our industrial coloring solution is specifically designed for the two most frequently used plastics in additive manufacturing, PA11 and PA12 and compatible with every powder-based technology such as SLS or HP’s new MJF. In addition, we also have experience with other plastics which upon request can also be colored at a corresponding temperature in the DM60, including: TPE, PrimePart, PA6, Alumide, PP, ABS, and many more.

Color cartridges available in four different sizes with a dyeing volume from 10 to over 50 liters. The technical drawing of the DM60 basket illustrates the various possibilities and the scalability of the DyeMansion dyeing solution.
The dyeing volume can be individually adjusted to the quantity of your parts, depending on the choice of the color cartridge.

|L||≤ 35L coloring volume|
|M||≤ 20L coloring volume|
|S||≤ 10L coloring volume|
Besides our 17 standard colors, almost every RAL and Pantone color can be achieved on powder-based AM parts with our technology. But the final appearance and color availability is determined by your raw material. White parts allow for almost the whole color spectrum and build the base for our unique color database. Grey parts (e.g. HP Multi Jet Fusion technology) are more limited on darkish tones, different shades of grey or deep black.
Color variety is an important prerequisite for a technology that promises to redesign manufacturing processes of the future. With the DM60 coloring machine, it’s possible to dye reproducible RAL and Pantone colors on AM plastics for the first time – always depending on the previous surface finish of the parts. In order to show the corporate design of your company on a powder-based AM part, individual color developments are indispensable. These custom or corporate colors can also be developed based on color samples.
Due to varying materials and surface treatments, it is a great challenge to be able to reproduce the entire color spectrum. We are able to develop colors on different materials through various techniques, thanks to our in-house developed software and a lot of experience gained in the meantime.
Since our coloring solution is accompanied by a chemical process and reacts with the material, custom color developments need to be done directly on your parts. Even small changes in the color recipe or surface finish can have a huge impact on the final result of the color. Standard colors as well as custom colors can be ordered in all of the four cartridge sizes (S, M, L, XL) in our customer portal.
